You are understanding correctly, and that is what I intended when I designed the game. The one thing to keep in mind is that the players will need room in their Bag to carry the dead Freelancer's stuff. So if they don't have room, they either can't take things with them, or will need to drop some of their own loot to make room.

Hi! The game isn't intentionally designed for solo play, so you might have some difficulty. You would need to come up with a set of rules for activating enemies in combat, and an oracle system for handling outside of combat.

You calculate the total amount of Harm coming your way and then subtract away Block. 

In your example you have a total of 4 Harm incoming, and you can Block 1, which means you take 3 Harm. 

They are a new faction that will be appearing across the NOVAverse going forward!

1. Ah, dang it, the general tactics didn't make it into the PDF. I'll get them updated soon!

2. No dice rolls for Abilities, they just happen. But, you can spend any of your existing Fuel to amplify them. For example, Pyre's second ability is a guaranteed 1 Harm to an adjacent enemy. But you can roll Fuel dice, and any 4+ is a hit, adding +2 Harm per hit you rolled. Yes, 4+ is a hit and I realize that isn't clear!

That's hard to answer without seeing them!

As a solo game, the concept of being overpowered is a difficult one. Some people might like that, and others don't. Plus, the power of items is very much dependent on the context (the realm you're in, you're other equipment, etc)

They are actually very different! While they might both be diceless, they have some really big deviations. The biggest difference is how combat works, with LOOT using tactical combat on the grid, and THORN focusing on creativity and problem solving.
